“OBJ would’ve been the Super Bowl MVP if…” Jalen Ramsey drops a truth bomb about Odell Beckham Jr.’s Super Bowl performance
Jalen Ramsey and Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell Beckham Jr. never properly got going after being traded to the Cleveland Browns. Throw in some issues with Baker Mayfield and OBJ would find himself on the market in 2021 where he would be picked up by the Los Angeles Rams for the remainder of the season. Safe to say, things worked out for both parties.
Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t have a single touchdown in the 6 games he played in Cleveland in 2021. In 8 regular-season games with the Rams, he totaled 5 touchdowns and also had 305 yards on just 27 receptions. His real impact, however, was felt in the playoffs.
In 4 postseason games, OBJ brought in 21 of 26 targets for 288 yards and 2 touchdowns with his best game coming in the Rams’ NFC Championship win when he had 9 receptions for 113 yards.
Beckham started the Super Bowl brilliantly as he had 2 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown and was really proving to be a difference-maker for the Rams’ offense that was struggling to get going. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL early on and missed the rest of the game. Jalen Ramsey believes had he been on the field, he would’ve been the best player in the game.
Jalen Ramsey feels Odell Beckham Jr. was the best player in the Super Bowl
Jalen Ramsey appeared on ‘The Pivot Podcast’ and talked about the Super Bowl, saying “In the Super Bowl, O(Odell Beckham Jr.) was really the igniter. If O could’ve kept going that game, O probably would’ve been Super Bowl MVP. And that ain’t taking nothing away from Cooper, but O was really living like that. He was on another level.”
About Odell Beckham Jr. going into free agency, Ramsey added “And then knowing he was going to be a free agent, too, all of that. It’s like dang, man. I hated it for him, but everything happens for a reason. And because of that, hopefully, we can get him back.”
OBJ certainly made it clear that he enjoyed his time in Los Angeles and certainly seems to want to remain with the Rams. If he did remain in Los Angeles the Rams would certainly benefit but would have to wait a bit due to the ACL injury. Only time will tell how this situation plays out.
