“They lied to me”: Jalen Ramsey says Cowboys promised to draft him but betrayed him at the last moment

Jalen Ramsey

Jalen Lattrel Ramsey has become a name to reckon with in the world of the NFL. The talented cornerback currently features for the Los Angeles Rams. He played college football at Florida State and was first roped in by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Everything for Jalen seems to be going great. His team, the LA Rams won the Super Bowl last season defeating the Joe Burrow-led Cincinnati Bengals. However, back in 2016, Jalen was actually hoping to be roped in by the Dallas Cowboys but we all know that didn’t happen.

As it turns out, Randy Moss isn’t the only star player who was betrayed by the Cowboys. Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey recently claimed that back in 2016, the Cowboys told him they will rope him into their side if he was still available at No. 4. He actually was but the Cowboys decided not to pick him.

Talking about the same on “The Pivot Podcast with Ryan Clark,” Ramsey said, “I was in that conversation of, ‘Who was going to be the first defensive player taken off the board? And I just wanted to be it. But if it didn’t happen, I always grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan, really, Titans and Cowboys. So if I go four, that’s like a dream come true.”

When I was on my visit to Dallas, they told me straight up to my face, ‘If you’re there at four, we’re taking you,’” Ramsey told Clark. “But we don’t think you’re gonna be there at four.’ They said, ‘We think the Chargers are gonna get you at three, but if you’re there at four, if you’re on that board we’re taking you,’” he added.

In the end, it all turned out well for Ramsey as he is with a champion side now.
