“There’s always gonna be some friction” Bucs’ GM Jason Licht believes Tom Brady and Bruce Arians’ relationship hasn’t been impaired
Tom Brady is coming back to the NFL. Just 40 days after he announced his retirement, the GOAT changed his mind and decided he wasn’t done with football. Of course, that means coming back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and head coach Bruce Arians.
That details is rather significant because of reports that surfaced after Tom Brady had initially announced his retirement stating that the relationship between Brady and Arians had soured. One moment in particular was that Arians would leave Brady and his offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich feeling undermined.
At that time, no one knew that Brady would be coming back and so it set off massive speculation about whether or not his relationship with Bruce Arians is what made him retire. That sparked a completely different tangent of whether or not Brady would want to return but for a different team.
Of course, now we know that Tom Brady is in fact back and will be playing in Tampa Bay. Jason Licht recently addressed the rumors of his quarterback and head coach not getting along.
Jason Licht shuts down Tom Brady and Bruce Arians discontent narrative
Recently ESPN’s Jenna Laine spoke to Jason Licht and asked him about the situation between Tom Brady and Bruce Arians to which he said “You’d be surprised, we didn’t talk about it much. You can’t believe everything you hear and see and read. There’s always going to be some friction between people on a staff and player and a coach. It’s just normal.”
When asked about keeping an open line of communication helps with the friction, Licht added “Absoultey. And he (Tom Brady) has loved his time here. And he’s told me that several times. Open communication is a great thing.”
Seeing that there is nothing serious going on between Tom Brady and Bruce Arians is crucial for the team as that will be imperative to their success this season. Of course, this could be seen as the GM simply hiding what’s really going on. A clearer picture will be painted once the season rolls around.
