Maada Njigba is the father and Jami Smith is the mother of former Ohio State wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Maada and Jami got divorced when Jaxon was still young, but the couple maintained a cordial relationship for the sake of their children.

Jaxon suffered a hamstring injury in the 2022 season that made him sit out for the entire year. His dad Maada talked with cleveland.com and said that the injury turned out to be a life lesson for the young wideout.

When it happened a third time against Iowa he was looking at us like, ‘Dad, I don’t know what else to do. I’m doing everything I can to get back'. I hate that he wasn’t able to be there for the Michigan and Georgia games, but he couldn’t. While we’re in it, it was rough. After the season I felt like God was preparing him to face adversity. You can’t always have it like you want to. I know you worked hard but sometimes life happens. That was a good lesson for him.

Maada reportedly lives in Texas itself. Jaxon’s mom Jami Smith found love once again in Brittan Dodwell. The couple lives together in Sulphur Springs, Texas, per reports.

What do Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s parents do for a living?

Jaxon’s dad Maada played as a linebacker at Stephen F. Austin State University. He trained both his sons, Canaan and Jaxon, from a young age. He used the knowledge from his playing days and used that to train his boys and mold them into great athletes.

Maada didn’t pursue professional football and now works for the state as a fire and rescue officer. The young wideout’s mom Jami also works for the state as a social worker.
