“There was nothing sexist about it,” Jeff Garcia stands firm on his criticism of ESPN broadcaster Mina Kimes for her Jimmy Garoppolo comments

Jeff Garcia is surely not willing to rescind his criticism of ESPN’s Mina Kimes after the broadcaster slammed San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for his lack of contribution to the side’s attacking play.

Garcia, who is himself a former 49ers quarterback came down hard on Mina Kimes after he read the criticism dished out on Garoppolo. He commented on an Instagram post, drawing flak from most around the circuit for his apparent misogynistic and anti-feministic comments on Mina Kimes.

Jeff Garcia does not feel the need to apologise for his comments on Mina Kimes

However, Jeff Garcia made it clear that he does not owe an apology to anyone despite the flak he received in recent days while speaking on The Steiny & Guru Show on 95.7. Kimes equated Jimmy Garoppolo’s contribution for the 49ers in their 13-10 victory against Packers last week to someone who did not put any effort but still managed to get an “A grade” in a group project.

“There was nothing sexist about what I had to say, outside of the fact, yes, women don’t play professional football, there are women that do participate in football,” Garcia said.

“Had it been a man saying the same thing, I would have had the same response for that man who has never stood in the pocket, who has never delivered a touchdown pass, has never taken a hit to the head while trying to make a play from within the pocket.”

“To be able to sit there and criticize someone at the level Jimmy Garoppolo is at, at the level any of these quarterbacks are at, at the level that I played at and say that it was sexist, misogynistic — people wanted to say there was racism behind it.

“People wanted to break me down as a player. What you think, whatever you want to say, it doesn’t matter to me. All I care about are what Niners fans and faithful think, what my family thinks, what my close friends think. That’s all that matters,” finished off the former 49ers QB while speaking in defence of his earlier comments.
