“You’re a fraud!” – Cowboys owner Jerry Jones calls out Stephen A. Smith for hating and disrespecting his franchise for no apparent reason
Stephen A. Smith and Jerry Jones
It’s not a hidden fact that Stephen A. Smith hates the Dallas Cowboys with every fiber of his being. He has never shied away from being a Cowboys hater and he is pretty vocal about his disdain for the team. Whenever the team makes a fool of itself on national television, Smith is on cloud nine and expresses his happiness on his talk show First Take.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is well aware of this fact and decided to do something about it. He treated Smith to a helicopter rise in hopes of changing his mindset towards the team. Jones even went so far as to call Smith a fraud for hating the Cowboys without any basis.
Jerry Jones says Stephen A. Smith is a REAL Cowboys fan
The Dallas Cowboys hosted an event at The Star in Frisco which starred the entire First Take crew alongside Jerry Jones and Cowboys’ franchise legend Michael Irvin. Jones went one on one against Stephen A. Smith and confronted him about hating his franchise. “Stuff coming out of Stephen A, they’re the ones who said you couldn’t have something like The Star,” Jerry Jones said on the show. “They always say that, Stephen A. But let me tell you what they do, they come on around.”
Smith asked the Cowboys owner what he was hinting at to which Jones replied with a grin, “What I’m saying is, deep down you’re a fraud. You’re a real Cowboy fan! This statement had everyone on the panel burst out with laughter. This was a wholesome moment between Jones and Smith.
Stephen A. Smith ranked the Cowboys as the seventh-best team in the NFC. “So you’ve got Philly, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Saints, San Francisco, Rams,” Molly Qerim asked Smith, to which he replied, “They going to go squeeze into the playoffs as a wild card and then you going to go yet another year without winning a damn playoff game!”
While this can be attributed to Smith’s intense dislike for the Cowboys, the team is far from at its 100 percent as of now. Left tackle Tyron Smith was the latest to be added to the injury list and looks like he won’t be available until December. Last season, the Cowboys had a rollercoaster season with great performance for one week and absolutely horrific the next one. They weren’t consistent and it showed in their wild card round matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.
There have been a lot of promises from the owner, head coach Mike McCarthy and players as well that Dallas will bounce back and restore the team’s honor of being the “America’s team.” The Cowboys will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener on September 11.
