“Joe Burrow is bad news…”: Colin Cowherd feels Burrow’s domination in the NFL is bad news for the young QBs who are yet to make their mark
Joe Burrow and Colin Cowherd
Joe Burrow has been the most talked-about quarterback in the playoffs. Burrow led the Cincinnati Bengals to their first playoff win since 1991 and now he will lead them to their first AFC Championship game since 1988.
The Bengals QB came of an injury his rookie season and has shown the entire league his No.1 draft pick caliber. However, analyst Colin Cowherd feels the 25-year old QB is bad news for young quarterbacks in the NFL.
“Joe Burrow has overcome a lot of challenges and still managed to lead the Bengals to the AFC title game”: Cowherd in awe of the young QB
“Here’s where Joe Burrow is bad news for some people in football”, Cowherd said. “He’s bad for Tua, Justin Fields, and Daniel Jones. Because when you are able to overcome all these obstacles — great creates clarity. The Bengals have the cheapest owners in the league, it’s a tough division, Burrow’s coming off a brutal injury. Here we are year two — AFC Championship. That creates clarity for all the young QBs.”
Cowherd said he’s not interested in hearing excuses from quarterbacks, he wants them to get better and win more games. Just like Joe Burrow has been doing. In last season’s Week 11 game against the Washington Football Team, Burrow was hit while throwing a pass and subsequently tore his ACL and MCL in his left knee, among other damage to his PCL and meniscus.
However, Burrow overcame his injury and now he’s the first QB in history to be drafted 1st overall to start a Conference Championship game within his first 2 seasons. “Cincinnati was a mess till the day before Joe Burrow arrived. They had ownership issues, didn’t know if the coach could coach, bad offensive line, Steelers and Ravens in their division. Year 2 — AFC Championships,” Cowherd added.
Colin Cowherd couldn’t stop praising Burrow for a job well done. Burrow was sacked 9 times against the Titans on a road playoff game and he still managed to win. Cowherd feels that the other young QBs should follow in Burrow’s footsteps and get better at playing football rather than making excuses.
The Bengals will travel to the Arrowhead Stadium to face Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game on Sunday night.
