Joe Burrow has lit up the NFL since being drafted #1 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020. While his rookie campaign got cut short by a knee injury, Burrow has taken over the league in his second year and now has the Bengals in the Super Bowl.

Going back just two seasons to when the Bengals went 2-14, it’s unthinkable that they will now play for the Lombardi Trophy. What’s up there with that is what they’ve had to go through this season just to get to this point.

Coming into the playoffs, they took on the Raiders at home which was a game that they were expected to win, and did so. But after that, they had to go to the #1 seed Tennessee Titans and then the perennial contenders, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Having had the odds against them all year long, they also enter the Super Bowl against the Rams as the underdogs but that doesn’t stop people from believing in them. Skip Bayless is the latest to voice his faith in the Bengals and Joe Burrow.

When making his pick for the Super Bowl on Fox Sports’ ‘Undisputed’, Skip Bayless said “On paper, the Rams should win this game. The Bengals WILL win this game. Matt Stafford on paper is set up to be the MVP of this game because they’re gonna throw it a lot because their coach has a huge ego and he wants to say watch this. And yet, Joe Burrow WILL be the MVP.”

Further elaborating on Joe Burrow, Bayless added “There’s just something about Joe Burrow. There’s something magical. There’s something special. I believe he’s going to arrive on the biggest stage in the sport, it’s made for him.”

Bayless also talked about Burrow’s previous college achievements saying, “If you look at what he’s done on the biggest stages at every level, it’s been spectacular. It’s been special to death. The SEC championship game against Georgia in Atlanta, that’s 349 (yards) that he threw for in that game. And then my Sooners, he threw for 493 in that game and 7 touchdowns. And then against Clemson in the National Championship game, he threw for 463 yards and 5 touchdowns. 16 touchdowns in 3 games with no interceptions.”

As mentioned earlier, Burrow put in game-winning performances against both the Titans and the Chiefs in this year’s postseason. The Chiefs game, in particular, stands out because he overcame a 21-3 deficit and won.

What that means is that the defense absolutely shut down Patrick Mahomes in the second half of that game. If that defense shows up again at any point in this Super Bowl. It wouldn’t be too surprising to see Joe Burrow lifting the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday.
