“He’s had a huge impact on me,” Kevin O’Connell aims to draw inspiration from his former Rams colleague at Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings have announced the arrival of their new head coach in the form of Kevin O’Connell. The 36-year old brings with himself his modern approach to the offensive plays for the Vikings and will hope to flourish in his new role after having previously served as the offensive coordinator with the Super Bowl LVI champs, Los Angeles Rams.
Kevin O’Connell spent the last two years, working with one of the best minds of the game, Sean Mcvay and has vouched to bring everything that he’s learnt from the veteran coach into his role at the Vikings.
Kevin O’Connell heaped praises on his former Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay after taking on the Vikings job

O’Connell has taken up a new challenge only after Sean McVay could not settle with his future at the Los Angeles Rams, and took over the Vikings job from Mike Zimmer, who earned himself a sack from the role this season.
Kevin O’Connell sang high praises of his former Los Angeles HC during his presentation at the Minnesota Vikings and has already made it clear that he would look to instil a number of things in offense from his former franchise.
“I feel like I’ve been around one of the best play-callers in the NFL over the last couple years ( in Sean McVay), and obviously the system we run here will have a lot of characteristics of what we did in Los Angeles, the ability to have that attacking mindset, the ability to utilize our offense at the line of scrimmage,” O’Connell said.
“With that, you have to have ownership of what you’re doing to call it, you have to have ownership of what you’re doing at the quarterback position to run the offense, and I feel very strongly about the circumstances and situation here to be really prepared to do that.”
“I’ve learned so much from him,” Kevin O’Connell on Sean McVay

Kevin O’Connell credited Sean McVay for all the good things he taught him and the massive impact he had on him during the past couple of years.
“He’s had a huge impact on me the last two years, but even going back beyond that, I’ve learned so much from him about the type of team and culture that I want to build,” O’Connell said.
“But he is truly a remarkable man, a remarkable leader. I hope to bring a lot of those characteristics to our football team here that he’s instilled that just helped us win a world championship.”
The former New England Patriots quarterback was one of the main reasons why the Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl this year, and the Vikings fans would hope for a similar outcome this season.
