The San Franciso 49ers did well last time around. They were able to make their way into the playoffs on the back of some impressive wins. In fact, one has to admit that they raised a few eyebrows after defeating the mighty Packers in the divisional round last season.

However, their journey came to an end in the conference championship game. Nevertheless, they had an impressive season and during this offseason, they were looking to strengthen their squad even more. Talking about the same, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan had a few things to say.

Jimmy Garoppolo has been a pillar for the 49ers. However, there were a few speculations here and there about the 49ers trading him. After it was confirmed that Garoppolo was set to undergo shoulder surgery, transfer speculations were thrown out of the window.

Talking about Jimmy at the NFL Annual Meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, Kyle said, “I know the surgery was a surprise, so that was different.” Jimmy is set to undergo a four-month rehabilitation as well to recover completely. Kyle added that he is satisfied with the new picks and claimed that the 49ers have a better squad at this time.

When asked if he believes the team is better since the offseason began, Shanahan said, “Yeah, I do.” The 49ers have signed Charvarius Ward, who earlier featured for the Kansas City Chiefs. Talking about him, Kyle claimed, “Personally, I thought we really needed to get a corner. That was our No. 1 need, and we got that. That’s what I was real happy with.”

I just liked how he played bump coverage the most,” Shanahan said. “They put him on an island a lot. He’s got extreme long arms. He never panics. He’s got very quick feet, stays on top of guys,” he further said about Ward. It will be interesting to see how the 49ers perform in the coming season.
