The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a stunning victory against the San Francisco 49ers in what turned out to be a low scoring thriller between the two sides. The victory could not have come sweeter for their quarterback, Matthew Stafford who made the move from Detroit Lions to a new side at the start of the season.

On the one-year anniversary of his transfer, he led his side to a home venue Super Bowl on the back of his heroics. Despite looking down and out at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Stafford stuck to his task and pulled off something incredible to set up the victory.

Leading NFL analyst, Colin Cowherd praised Stafford for his performance on the night. He also believes that the Rams should send in a token of appreciation to the Detroit Lions, for letting go of the star quarterback.

Matthew Stafford finished 31-of-45 for 337 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on a goal-line throw to Cooper Kupp that was tipped. He is aiming to become only the third quarterback in NFL history to lift the Super Bowl in his first season at a new franchise.

The Los Angeles Rams should send a thank you note to the Detroit Lions. Thank you, Lions for 13 years of chaos and trailing and Matt having no running game and letting the hell get beat out of him for 13 years. Thank you Lions. Because of that, he is so equipped for now. Not in spite of it, because of it,” Cowherd said.

“It’s why all these quarterbacks went to junior colleges, got cut, dropped in the draft. Do you know how emotionally strong you have to be in games like yesterday? The pressure. This Rams organization and this owner is all-in. There’s pressure on (Sean) McVay, there’s pressure on Les Snead, there’s pressure on Matthew Stafford. Jared Goff doesn’t win that game,” Colin Cowherd finished off.
