“It needs to be an enormous package” Mike Garafolo reveals the one thing that can make the Seahawks trade DK Metcalf

DK Metcalf

DK Metcalf came into the NFL as one of the more confusing prospects at the time. While his physique and tangibles were saught after, many doubted if he could remain healthy and deliver in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks took the chance on Metcalf and 3 seasons later, he’s the face of the team.

After a stellar 2020, in which DK Metcalf had 1303 receiving yards, he dipped a bit in 2021 as he only had 967 yards but did increase his touchdowns from 10 to 12. Part of that has to do with the fact that his quarterback, Russell Wison, missed a few games. Now that he’s gone many wondered if Metcalf would want out too.

The rumors came around the time when Wilson was traded but really started when Tyreek Hill was traded to Miami. It was said that the Seahawks were listening to offers for Metcalf which somewhat makes sense given that it seems very difficult for them to remain competitive in the NFC without Russell Wilson. However, Pete Carroll isn’t one to sit around and rebuild.

Mike Garafolo recently considered all of this and shared his thoughts on the situation in Seattle.

Mike Garafolo appeared on a segment of ‘NFL Now’ where he was quoted saying “This is a Seattle Seahawks team that traded away Russell Wilson because, in their mind, he wanted to go. Based on my conversations with sources about DK Metcalf, my read is that he doesn’t want out of Seattle. I truly believe they want to sign him to a contract extension.”

Garafolo also added “Teams are calling the Seattle Seahawks to see if DK Metcalf is available. This is a team that still thinks it’s going to be competitive in the short term so if you trade DK Metcalf, you’re telling your locker room that it’s a teardown. So, I don’t think they have any intentions to trade DK Metcalf and the only way it happens is if they receive an enormous trade package to make them think about it.”

As of now, it’s unclear whether the Seahawks want to go ahead in 2022 with Drew Lock as their starting quarterback or take one in the draft. Regardless, having DK Metcalf around makes whoever is playing QB have a much easier job so it seems unlikely that he’ll go anywhere. But, this has been one of the wildest offseasons ever so, no one really knows.
