“I would go and meet…” Mike Tannebaum reveals the perfect replacement for Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill has been the talk of the town recently as he was involved in a blockbuster trade from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins. It seems that contract disputes are what sent Hill packing.

After Davante Adams got his massive contract from the Las Vegas Raiders, Tyreek Hill saw that and apparently wanted to top his contract. The Chiefs supposedly had an offer for him but it wasn’t enough. So, rather than lose him to free agency, they figured they may as well trade him and get something out of this.

And the Chiefs most certainly did get something. Trading Tyreek Hill allowed them to get the Dolphins’ 2022 1st, 2nd, and 4th round picks as well as their 2023 4th and 6th round picks. It seems having monster contracts all over the field has finally cost the Chiefs but they certainly didn’t come away empty-handed.

Given all those picks and the fact that this has happened with so much time left in the offseason, Mike Tannebaum shared his thoughts on what the Kansas City Chiefs could do to replace their superstar receiver.

Mike Tannebaum believes Odell Beckham Jr. could replace Tyreek Hill in Kansas City

On a segment of ESPN’s ‘Get Up’, Mike Tannebaum was quoted saying “There’s enormous pressure on Patrick Mahomes and that’s what goes with making $45 million a year. But, it’s only March 24th so, they can replace Tyreek Hill. It’s not with just one player. If I was them, I would go and meet with Odell Beckham Jr. I’d sign him to a 1-year deal.”

Tannebaum further added “With 3 picks in the top 50, I’d go and get an explosive receiver right now in the draft. Hopefully, that’s Jameson Williams if he’s healthy coming off the ACL. A combination of Williams and Odell Beckham Jr., it’s not Tyreek Hill but it’s pretty close.”

Tannebaum also added “If I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan, I’m doing backflips because I know, Andy Reid is in this for the long run. This is a Bill Belichick type of trade. Of course, you’re losing on a great player but when you get 5 draft picks and can save that type of capital, you can redeploy it and make your team better.”

Odell Beckham Jr. in Kansas City would certainly be interesting. The main problems they have is him coming off the torn ACL suffered in the Super Bowl and that it seems like the Rams are intent on keeping him in LA. If they can find a way to get him, however, that would ease the pressure on Travis Kelce and Juju Smith-Schuster late on when OBJ is finally healthy.

It’s almost certain now that the Chiefs will be going after a receiver in the draft. Who it will be is a bit of a toss-up at the moment but going after a speedy, deep threat wouldn’t be too surprising. Only time will tell now as to how they wish to replace Tyreek Hill.
