“There’s a massive race problem in the NFL,” Mina Kimes endorses Brian Flores’ racism allegations against the league

The world of NFL has found itself rocked with allegations from former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores. He filed a suit against the NFL alleging that he was only interviewed by the Giants and Broncos in order to comply with the Rooney Rule.
This has once again brought out the conversation on what can be termed as the elephant in the room not only in the world of sports but in the world in general. Many have given their opinion on what needs to change within the NFL and the franchises to stop certain allegations of this type in future.
Mina Kimes is happy to be a part of a critical conversation in the NFL

Leading sports journalist, Mina Kimes who is known to voice her opinions on tough matters spoke on the Brian Flores issue during the ESPN NFL Live show. She wants the best head coach to be selected but believes that has not been the case in the NFL, due to which most of the coaches currently are white.
Giving her opinion on the issue at hand, Mina Kimes said, “There’s a massive race problem, lack of diversity among head coaches and the NFL isn’t fixing it. I can tell you right now it’s true. As the years went by and the number of head coaches of colour dwindled, you’d see white defensive coaches being hired, guys from college with no experience, guys like Urban Meyer with very spotty personal records in college. You then realize, the excuses just didn’t make sense.”
Mina Kimes added, “I know there’s someone at home probably screaming ‘Just hire the best man for the job,’ to which I’d say well that would be nice if it was happening but it’s not unless you believe that all of the best candidates happen to be white unless you believe owners are making decisions on the basis of merit and not their own implicit biases network. We’ll see how it plays out but at the very least we started the conversation and we should approach this with some honesty instead of trying to find excuses for what happened.”
