NFL moves to take down Jon Gruden’s “baseless” case in Nevada court

After about two months, the NFL has finally come out with an answer to Jon Gruden’s massive allegations against the league and Commissioner Roger Goodell. The former Las Vegas Raiders coach filed a lawsuit alleging Goodell and other parties involved to have leaked private emails from him, which contained misogynistic, homophobic and racist terms.

However, the NFL has now filed a counter lawsuit in the state of Nevada, to dismiss the case based on the claims that they had nothing to do with the leaking of the emails.

Jon Gruden has a history of using racist terms, as he did in 2011, where he used such a term to refer to NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith, who is black. He went on one better in 2014, when he used homophobic terms to refer to Michael Sam, who was a gay player for the St. Louis Rams.

All of them were leaked, and Jon Gruden eventually had to resign from his position as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders in the month of November.

“Gruden does not, and cannot, dispute that he wrote the published emails,” the NFL wrote in the motion to dismiss filed Wednesday. “He does not, and cannot, dispute that he sent those emails to multiple parties. Nor does he claim that they were somehow altered or edited and that the repugnant views espoused in them were not in fact expressed by him.

“Gruden sent a variety of similarly abhorrent emails to a half dozen recipients over a seven-year period, in which he denounced `the emergence of women as referees,’ and frequently used homophobic and sexist slurs to refer to Commissioner Goodell, then-Vice President Joseph Biden, a gay professional football player drafted in 2014, and others,” the NFL wrote.

In his lawsuit, Gruden is seeking “the recovery of money in excess of $15,000.00” in each of seven causes of action. However, the NFL have termed his claims as baseless and are not in the mood to give this case any priority.
