The Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers share one of the most intense rivalries in the National Football League’s history. The two franchises have enjoyed relative success and they have the same number of Super Bowl rings, with five each. And now, they will face off in an intense playoff game as they go head-to-head in the divisional round of this season’s NFL playoffs.
The 2nd seeded San Francisco 49ers managed to secure the win against the Seattle Seahawks in a dominating fashion during the wildcard weekend. Their rookie sensation Brock Purdy has done an impressive job after two of their quarterbacks went down with injuries earlier in the season. And also, the 49ers’ mid-season accumulation of RB Christian McCaffrey proved to be massive as he still hasn’t suffered a loss while wearing the Niners uniform.
The Cowboys are also legit contenders this season as they decimated the legendary QB Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during their wildcard matchup. Their star QB Dak Prescott is coming off a legacy game as he threw for 304 yards and accumulated five total touchdowns against a fairly tough Buccaneers defense. They will now look to avenge their last season’s playoff loss against the Niners by winning against them this season.
49ers fans gave the Cowboys a brutal reception
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys are already under immense pressure to win this game against their long-time rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, led by the rookie sensation Brock Purdy.
Furthermore, the Niners faithful made sure to let the self-proclaimed “America’s team” know that they are in the enemy territory by welcoming them with a brutal reception when they first took the field ahead of their decisive game.
As the Cowboys players ran into the field, the 49ers fans welcomed them to their home with a rain of boos. However, the Cowboys are one of the most hated franchises in the NFL and they are used to the boos at this point.
On the sporting side of things, the Dallas Cowboys are caught up in a defensive battle with their Arch-rivals 49ers as the scores are tied 9-9 with the 49ers on the verge of the endzone at the end of the third quarter.
