“We make him better”: 49ers GM John Lynch is hopeful about finding a concrete solution to the Deebo Samuel problem
Deebo Samuel and John Lynch
This offseason has been one of the craziest ones in NFL history and more so for the wide receivers. We saw WRs taking home the big bucks. The Packers traded their star receiver Davanate Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs also had to lose Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.
Both the trades had to do with money and it felt like other star receivers will also look to follow in Adams’ and Hill’s footsteps. Not long ago, what caught everyone’s attention was Deebo Samuel removing his 49ers profile pics and unfollowing the 49ers’ official Instagram handle.
“We are trying hard with Deebo Samuel to work through whatever the issues are”: John Lynch
It felt like Deebo’s departure from the 49ers was inevitable. However, as it turns out, the draft is done and dusted but we still don’t have an official confirmation about Deebo leaving the 49ers. Talking about Deebo’s situation, 49ers GM John Lynch had a few things on KNBR.
“We’re trying really hard with Deebo to work through whatever the issues might be. I always have really believed that there is a sacredness to those conversations and that they remain private, especially with things like this. I think it’s in everyone’s best interest we don’t get into that. I don’t think the obstacles are insurmountable,” Lynch said on KNBR.
Lynch added that Deebo has been a major part of the organization and he is hopeful that this situation will be resolved soon. “He’s been so good on and off the field. Obviously, a tremendous player. He makes us better. I think we make him better. And we’re hopeful that we get everything right and that we’re rolling forward,” he added.
When asked if Deebo will be on the roster in 2022 or not. Lynch said, “it’s a yes for me, and that’s our job. He’s too good of a player. We’ve got too good of a thing going, and we want to keep that going. That’s where I’ll leave that.”
