Kyle Shanahan, HC of the San Francisco 49ers has revealed the moment in the game against the Seattle Seahawks that proved decisive for them. In the first playoff game, the 49ers registered an emphatic 41-23 win over the Seahawks despite trailing by a point at halftime. The Seahawks matched the 49ers pretty well in the first half, but had no answers to their defense in the second half when they raised their level.

At halftime, the 49ers were down 16-17 to the Seahawks and it looked like anyone’s game. Seahawks’ QB Geno Smith was moving the ball very well, and the 49ers needed internal motivation to turn things around. After the game, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan revealed the moment which gave the players this motivation and told the media that after this moment, there was no turning back for the team.

In the third quarter, star WR Deebo Samuel got the 49ers in the red zone, but Seahawks’ Johnathan Abram apparently rolled his ankle deliberately while attempting the tackle. This cheeky move wasn’t appreciated much by the 49ers players and both teams even had a little moment on the field regarding this. Abram even picked up Samuel’s leg and dragged him a few inches.

Shanahan said the tackle “pi**ed the team off,” and the 49ers never looked back from that moment. This drive by Brock Purdy resulted in a touchdown and during the second half, the 49ers were at a point 25-0 up on the Seahawks. The 49ers, led by Purdy, scored on each of its possessions in the second half. Despite getting up slowly after the tackle, Samuel didn’t hurt himself and later scored a 74-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game out of bounds for the visiting team.

Purdy was the star in the 49ers‘ win. The rookie QB was making his playoff debut, and he delivered way more than anyone expected him to. He is yet to lose a game while starting quarterback for the Niners in his career and, according to HC Kyle Shanahan, it won’t be a surprise if he takes the team to the Super Bowl.

He became the first rookie QB with 4 total TDs in a playoff game and what makes it even more special is the nerves he showed while being under pressure. The 49ers were favorites to win the game but trailed at halftime. Purdy kept his calm in scoring a TD in every drive in the second half. He had 332 yards today with a total of 4 TDs and no INT.

Moving ahead, the 49ers are now serious contenders for the NFC after this mammoth win and will face either the Dallas Cowboys or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the divisional round at the Levi’s Stadium.
