Brock Purdy is suddenly having a bad time in the league. The quarterback, who set fire in the first half of the season, suddenly dropped his form in the last few matches. His performance against the Cincinnati Bengals was abysmal and a lot of people have started raising their eyebrows on his game time. However, his coach, Kyle Shanahan, is not concerned about what others are saying. He has his full trust in Purdy.

Recently, the HC was asked whether he would drop Purdy in the coming games. Shanahan had a simple ‘no’ to this answer.

When he was asked about the reason, the HC firmly said,

Because no one just changes their quarterback for no reason.

It was evident from Shanahan’s answer that he was not willing to break the team’s structure. He believes in Purdy and knows that the QB will have a grand return to his NFL form.

The quarterback decently started his campaign and helped his team to grab five consecutive wins. However, his form witnessed a sudden decline in the last few games. As a result, the 49ers have lost their last three fixtures. Purdy played one of the worst matches against the Cleveland Browns. He only covered 125 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The match against the Browns was just an indication of Purdy’s poor form. The QB went on to register multiple interceptions in the next few matches. In the last two matches, he was intercepted four times. Against the Bengals, his interception had a vital role in shaping the result of the game.

Coach Kyle Shanahan has an option to replace Purdy. This offseason, they traded Sam Darnold as a free agent and the analysts thought that Darnold would have his opportunity to play for the 49ers.

Is Sam Darnold worth enough to become Brock Purdy’s replacement?

Sam Darnold was drafted by the New York Jets in the year 2018. He was a Jets person for three years. In three years, the QB covered more than 7,500 yards of passing with 35 touchdowns, with QB rating below 50. However, his interception numbers were also pretty high.

He was intercepted nearly 45 times in the three years. Witnessing his abysmal performance in the Jets color, the team traded him to the Carolina Panthers, where he played for two years. He became a free agent this summer.

The San Francisco 49ers brought him this offseason. However, he got to play only for a few minutes against the Dallas Cowboys. The QB registered only one yard of passing against the Cowboys.

As things stand right now, it seems that the 49ers have no intention of bringing him into the squad in the place of Brock Purdy. His previous stats do not put a strong debate in favor of him.
