Appearing on the show The Warner House, Hall-of-Famer Jerry Rice compared Purdy with Joe Montana, his quarterback. As per the former WR himself, both have a lot of similarities between themselves. Purdy’s calm and composed attitude on the turf reminded him of Montana’s era.

However, the appreciation for Purdy did not prevent him from raising the bar for McCaffrey, as he argued that both are legit contenders for the MVP Award. He also considered that the 49ers would not be able to win the championship without the help of both.

Brock reminds me a lot of Montana. His coolness, he doesn't get rattled, and you need your quarterback to be that way," the former player added. He found it difficult to choose one between McCaffrey and Purdy as he went on saying "I don't see us winning a championship without Brock Purdy. I don't see us winning a championship without CMC. So I don't know how this is gonna unfold, but I think both guys really deserve it, man.
Rice said.

Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey have both created ripples this season. The duo has created wonders on the gridiron. In most cases, Brock Purdy started the devastation, and the latter successfully finished it off.

Purdy hailed McCaffrey as the possible MVP frontrunner

After the game against the Arizona Cardinals, Brock Purdy hailed Christian McCaffrey as the possible MVP frontrunner. He said that McCaffrey deserved to win the award this year as he takes the game forward from where Purdy started.

I think Christian should be MVP. I really do believe that. He does everything for us ... and so in my eyes that's an MVP.
