Ray-Ray McCloud won’t let Taylor Swift‘s presence at Allegiant Stadium be a distraction from the main prize. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver’s only goal is to bag his first-ever Super Bowl ring.
In a clash of two of the best teams in the NFL, the 49ers will take on the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, for the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, February 11, in Las Vegas. The occasion itself is a head-turner, but when the news broke that Swift would be in attendance to cheer for her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, its grandeur increased.
While everyone will look to snap a few clicks with the ‘Cruel Summer’ composer, McCloud’s only focus is beating the Chiefs. On February 9, TMZ caught up with the 27-year-old WR and asked him whether he would seek out the pop icon. He replied,
Hell nah! This is football.
Although he has massive respect for Swift and what she has achieved in her music career—being a musician himself—McCloud is first and foremost a football player. As a professional NFL athlete, his ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl.
She’s [Taylor Swift] great at what she does. I’m a big fan of greatness. She’s great at what she do. But, hey, this is football. We don’t care about no album coming out.
Ray Ray McCloud’s music career
While Taylor Swift may be a global sensation, the 49ers returner may be running under the radar of most music lovers. Unless they have played Madden, that is. Six songs from his EP Crowd Control, recorded alongside 49ers teammates Darren Waller, Terron Armstead, and Melvin Ingram, made their way into EA Sports‘s Madden 24 NFL video game.
Furthermore, McCloud became the CEO of a talent agency named Legendary Tribe Entertainment. The Clemson graduate had 135 yards on 12 catches in the 2023 season.
Elsewhere, Swift will be attending the Super Bowl. She had a scheduled ERAS tour stop in Tokyo, Japan. The Embassy of Japan in Washington, D.C., put out a statement saying that the 14-time Grammy winner can make it back to the Super Bowl.
Despite the 12-hour flight and [17-hour] time difference, the Embassy can confidently speak now to say that if she departs [Tokyo] in the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl begins.the statement read
This will be the 13th time that Swift will be present at a stadium cheering for her beau, Travis Kelce. The game is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
