A car crash over Bill Belichick’s anger for Rich Ohrnberger
At some point in all of our lives we have been late for something important because of a faulty alarm and made excuses to avoid punishment or reprimand but if you are a New England Patriot who’s late for practice and your coach is the man infamous around the NFL for his strictness, a lousy excuse won’t work and you may lose your job. So what do you do? Apparently, crash your car.
Bill Belichick the New England Patriots legendary head coach is a force to be reckoned with, you don’t win 6 Super Bowl rings as head coach and draw comparisons to the Dark Lord for nothing. Numerous stories and anecdotes have been shared about the Hoodie but this one takes the cake. Rich Ohrnberger is a former Patriot who did something astonishing to be saved from the Coach’s wrath.
On his radio show “The Hartman & Rich O Show,” Ohrnberger recalled Bill Belichick’s demand for punctuality — and the fear that he felt one morning after oversleeping.
“I wake up, my phone died overnight, and I realize I’m waking up to the sound of birds chirping and not my alarm going off, I am frantic. I don’t even bother looking at the clock, I know I’m late.” per Ohrnberger he wasn’t speeding just hustling. “I’m five minutes to being officially late, and I’ve got a 15-minute drive ahead of me, I’m gonna be 10 minutes late for this day. I have this sinking feeling in my stomach like, ‘I’m gonna be cut. [Belichick’s] not gonna have me on this football team come tomorrow. What do I do?’

What saved Rich Ohrnberger’s job?
In perhaps one of the most insane moments of his life he saw-“I see a church van in front of me that’s all dinged up and it’s got the black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe and I’m like, ‘I’m gonna hit this car,’” Ohrnberger recalled amidst laughter. “… It’s better to pay the insurance than embarrass me by being late for a Patriots team meeting.”
And he did not hard but enough to make a dent on his own vehicle for evidence but was quite taken aback when an elderly man merged from the van who was quite sympathetic per Ohrnberger and let him leave after he gave some cash and his insurance details.
He rushed to the facility where apparently his tactic worked after someone inspected his vehicle and Ohrnberger wasn’t fired that day.
