After competing fiercely for ten years in the NFL, Aaron Donald finally decided to hang up his boots. The legendary defensive tackle had a remarkable career with the Los Angeles Rams. In his ten years, the DT won ten Pro Bowls (he did not have a season without a Pro Bowl) and eight first-team All-Pro honors.

The DT did seem a bit emotional about hanging up his boot. In an interview with his wife Erica, Donald revealed his motivation for years to continue staying at the top. He said that it was his parents who influenced him throughout this tough journey. He added that all he wanted to do was to make them proud and felt satisfied after doing that.

The DT said while getting emotional often:

I think that was the best part of my career. Even from kid to high school to college to Pros, it was always to go out there and make my mom and dad proud. It was like if I played football, I wanted my dad to know what I did. If my dad praised me, it all happened.

As the DT has left the team, questions are being asked as to who will the Los Angeles Rams veteran as an alternative. Even last season, the player was at his best, hence, stepping into his shoes will not be very easy.

Aaron Donald held exhaustion responsible for his retirement

After a heck of a journey, Aaron Donald found the NFL exhausting. He did not have the motivation to continue in the league. He was tired and burnt out. All of these had shared roles behind his decision to take his boots off.

In the retirement video he posted, Donald said:

I'm complete. I'm full. I think the passion to play the game is no longer there for me. I will always love football, but to think about going through another camp and another 17-[game] season, I just don't got the urge to want to push myself to do that no more. I'm burnt out. The best way to say it is I'm full, I'm complete. I'm satisfied with what I was able to do in 10 years.
