Tom Brady—to the rescue for the New York Jets? That does sound wild, but it has been that kind of a couple of days for the New York residents. The air was already somber, as it was the eve of 9/11. On the other hand, it was a big day for the Jets fans, as their months of waiting to watch Aaron Rodgers finally came to an end.

They had watched the four-time NFL MVP throw a touchdown in their final preparation game. But the regular season is an entirely different beast. As the sky poured like it wasn’t over the effects of the previous day, when the Cowboys decimated the Giants, the locals were looking for something to cheer about.

Unfortunately, the worst was yet to come. Crowds of people flocked to the MetLife Stadium, and moments later, Aaron Rodgers ran into the stadium with the American flag in the spotlight. The national anthem resonated in the air as the game kicked off with the Jets in possession of the ball.

But on the first drive, Rodgers was tackled by Buffalo Bills defensive end Leonard Floyd. The veteran signal-caller stayed down, clutching his leg, and the stadium went silent. Shortly after, he hobbled off to the sidelines and was then carted away for further examination.

One of the most anticipated NFL debuts came to a sad end with calls for another great to return in Gang Green colors. Now, Social media wants Tom Brady to come back and play for the New York Jets.

46-year-old Tom Brady is arguably the best player ever to play in the NFL. He has a history of coming out of retirement. After winning six Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots, he moved on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. The next year, he added another championship and announced he would be calling it quits. But it only took him 40 days to reverse his decision and return to the Bucs. Brady eventually hung up his boots in February 2023. However, fans want the future Hall of Famer to return until Aaron Rodgers makes a full recovery.

Tom Brady’s fielding for another team is very difficult, considering he is now a minority stakeholder in the Las Vegas Raiders. The NFL won’t allow one franchise employee to play for another.

On top of that, he is enjoying retirement, going on trips with family, and even making his FOX debut. So it is unlikely that Brady would come back, more so after the Patriots announced they would be inducting him into their Hall of Fame next year.

For now, Zach Wilson will stay on the ship in New York until Rodgers is available. In the meantime, the Jets can look into free agency. Matt Ryan still seems to be on the market, along with Joe Flacco, Carson Wentz, and a few others.
