“That’s absolutely ridiculous!” – NFL Twitter loses its mind over Aaron Rodgers targeting to practice next week for much-anticipated return from Achilles injury
Aaron Rodgers is looking to break the record for the fastest recovery following an Achilles injury in the NFL.

Aaron Rodgers is going to make history very soon. The quarterback for the New York Jets is hoping to make a return as soon as December 24th. This is a mind-blowing feat as the average timeline for recovering from an ACL injury is, at the least, one entire season. As per Ian Rapoport, Rodgers hopes to play in the game against the Washington Commanders.
This would break Cam Akers‘ record of returning to the field in under 6 months after sustaining an Achilles rupture. Rodgers has managed to make a remarkable recovery despite nearing his 40s. When a QB gets up there in age, it makes the recovery process slower.
Despite the quarterback having made a speedy recovery, there are a lot of concerns that surround this. The first is an imminent risk of re-injury. If he has accelerated the recovery process, then the odds are the tendon will still require time to heal fully. Since it is connected to the bone, the recovery cannot be rushed.
Aaron Rodgers’ return should be contingent upon a playoff push
The New York Jets should be the most concerned about Aaron Rodgers’ accelerating his recovery from surgery. This man is the future of their team and they have a lot invested in him. While it would be great to have him back this early, it does not make sense to risk the team’s future over this season.
The Jets are 4-7 this season, and the team is likely to have a worse record by the time Rodgers is ready to return. Even if he does come back, the team’s season would already be over and there is no point in him risking an injury yet again when there is no reward in sight. The team has a bad offensive line, which does not help the QB because he is going to take hits and that is definitely not good this early on after an injury.
Fans online were astounded at the pace of the QB’s recovery and here’s how they reacted:

He is about to be return for nothing when they have no chance at playoffs

It's gotta be contingent on a playoff push.

No way he's risking his health without a playoff shot
Rodgers won’t come back this year, but he’s making sure everyone knows he was this close. He gets all the fawning attention he wants

Any doctor that clears him should have their license revoked

He’s gonna re injure himself further. Feels like he’s rushing it when they aren’t even going to make the playoffs

Lol. Good luck with that.

That is absolutely wild! This will be a crazy thing to see if it happens.

Modern medicine can be really impressive.
I’d love to learn more about the new surgery technique he had done!
HE ISNT COMING BACK. He really milking this ?

The quarterback is trying to achieve the impossible here. The New York Jets have remained mum on his timeline and have not confirmed nor denied his statements. It will be interesting to see if Aaron Rodgers manages to pull off the impossible.
