The New York Jets faced the Cleveland Browns in the 2023 preseason game on Thursday. The Jets suffered a tragic loss in their preseason opener but their future looks bright for them since they have multiple star players in their squad including Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson. During the game, Rodgers showed a lot of love to the Jets’ star receiver Wilson and compared him to the Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams.
Speaking with NBC’s Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth during the Hall of Fame Game, Rodgers said, “Garrett, he’s a special talent. I mean Garrett, what an amazing kid.”
Furthermore, the 39-year-old went on to compare Wilson with his former Green Bay Packers teammate and one of the best pass catchers in the league, Davante Adams.
“I have so much love and respect for Davante [Adams] and feel like he’s the best receiver in the league, so I don’t say this lightly, but there are definitely traits that this 17 [Wilson] has that that special 17 [Adams] has as well,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers and Adams share a great history as they both played together in Green Bay for 8 seasons before the talented wide receiver decided to go play in Las Vegas with his collegiate teammate Derek Carr during the 2022 off-season.
Wilson, who is entering the second year in the league, has proved already that he is capable of becoming a great receiver in the NFL by winning the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. Rodgers believes Wilson can end up having a great career in the NFL just like his former teammate Adams.

Aaron Rodgers makes Wilson-Adams comparison amidst trade rumors
Ever since Aaron Rodgers took a massive pay cut of $35 million a few days ago, there have been several rumors suggesting that the Jets might be targeting the Raiders wideout, Davante Adams. Experts believe Adams, who spent the majority of his career catching passes from the 10-time Pro Bowler, would be interested in reuniting with him in New York instead of playing for the Raiders.
Amidst this, Rodgers has made bold Garrett Wilson-Davante Adams comparisons and has ignited trade rumors. Rodgers didn’t put Wilson in the same category as Adams, but he believes the Jets’ second-year receiver has the potential to become a great wideout in the NFL.
Nonetheless, the Jets lost their 1st preseason game against the Browns. They will now be facing the Carolina Panthers in their second preseason game next weekend.
