Blake Martinez is a former American football player who surprisingly announced his retirement in the middle of the 2022 season at just 28 years old. He played as a linebacker for the Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers and two other teams. Following his retirement, Martinez turned to a non-traditional businessman and started to earn millions.
The former Packers LB Blake Martinez started a new business as he began collecting and selling Pokemon cards for a living. Martinez recently had an interview with TheAthletic.com, where he talked in detail about his new business. “I just asked myself, do I want to keep starting over from ground zero with football, and keep destroying my body, or do I want to start over from ground zero here, and do something I can actually sustain for a long time? I loved football. But what I found out was I loved building and running my own team even more,” Martinez said.
Martinez further revealed that his new business has brought in $11.5 million in revenue. He might end up making more than what he did during his 7-year career in the NFL. He made approximately $30 million while playing in the NFL for 7 years per multiple reports.
Martinez was drafted in the 4th round (131st overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Packers. During his 4-year tenure in Green Bay, he registered 10 sacks, 3 interceptions, and 512 total tackles. After his 4-year tenure with the Packers, Martinez had a couple of brief stints with the New York Giants and the Las Vegas Raiders. He was playing for the Raiders last season when he decided to call it quits in the middle of the 2022 regular season.
Just like Blake Martinez, Aaron Rodgers is also looking at a new beginning

Just like Blake Martinez, his former teammate Aaron Rodgers is also looking at a new beginning as he was traded by the Packers to the New York Jets in the 2023 off-season just ahead of the NFL Draft.
Rodgers was acquired by the Jets to replace their young signal-caller, Zach Wilson. The Jets believe Rodgers’ veteran leadership would help their young core to reach the playoffs in the upcoming season for the first time since 2010.
On the other hand, Rodgers believes he would have a better shot at winning the Super Bowl with the Jets than he would have with the Green Bay-based football team. The 39-year-old Rodgers is looking to add another championship ring to his resume.
