“He’s losing his passion”: Colin Cowherd believes a demotivated Aaron Rodgers will be the reason as to why the Packers have a bad season in 2022
Aaron Rodgers recently beat Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen in a game of golf with Tom Brady as his teammate. Though the game was in all good spirits and for a charitable purpose, Rodgers made some pretty shocking and unexpected comments after the match. Though Rodgers is currently in the second year of his three years $150 million contract with Green Bay, he hinted that he could probably hang it up once this is over. His current contract also comes with an option to retire from the league if he wants to.
Rodgers has said that retirement is almost always on his mind and that he thinks about it all the time but when it comes time to commit, he gives it his all, however, age takes its toll and a player’s interest changes along the way. Playing football is the easiest part of it all but it is other stuff associated with it such as the constant pressure and other talks that impact you.

Aaron Rodgers wants to roam the world, attend concerts, and live his best life:
Colin Cowherd reacted to Rodgers’ latest comments on his retirement and the road ahead for him, he gives instances of workaholics who are legends in his field and also brings up other prominent personalities who have been able to achieve success work-life balance as well.
“It’s really interesting about Aaron Rodgers, in my business, I used to be just in my 20’s and 30’s a workaholic. Marv Albert was legendary, he was the ultimate workaholic, he was on the air more than he was off the air.” Colin goes on to share his experience with Bob Costas, another legendary commentator, “I met Bob in Vegas and I talked about that (Marv Albert’s schedule) he grew up kind of idolizing Marv Albert. I asked him how come you weren’t doing this and this? He said, ‘I kinda want a life’, he’s had opportunities to do stuff but he does not want to get up at 7 in the morning and he does not want to be on flights all the time. If you told me which life I could live, I would live Bob’s.” Colin says.
Sometimes there are people who may not necessarily have their foot on the gas 24×7 365 but this does not mean they do not like what they do or are not passionate about it. Having a balance between work and other things is acceptable, as an athlete, you are always expected to put your sport first and have nothing above it but that need not be the case. In Rodgers’s instance, as age has begun to catch up with him and as he has broken multiple records, that hunger and interest within him are waning as after all father time is undefeated.
Coming to Aaron’s comments on retirement, “Aaron is a little prickly, a little aloof. Tom’s personality wears better over time. Some people to the very end want to perform but Aaron is a different cat. A person close to Aaron said, “In the offseason, he’s not sitting down breaking down film, it’s not who he is.’,” Colin believes that Aaron wants to live his life to the fullest and that just because Brady watches film throughout the year and is always locked in it does not mean Aaron is a bum as some people are built differently. He goes on to add, “Aaron doesn’t have to sell his identity or be inauthentic, he’s more gifted and naturally talented than Tom.” Colin concludes by stating that Aaron wants to roam the world, enjoy concerts, and just be at peace as he is single and does not have kids.
