It was the worst start possible for the New York Jets as their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an unfortunate injury just 5 minutes into his Jets debut during their season opener against the Buffalo Bills on Monday. Rodgers suffered an injury during the Jets’ opening drive and was carted off the field by the trainers.

He was initially listed as questionable to return by the Jets but after a visit to the blue medical tent, Rodgers’ status was downgraded to out. The Jets later announced that his X-rays came back negative. It is a piece of good news for the Jets fans that his X-rays were negative.

Still, the fear is Rodgers might’ve suffered an Achilles injury which could rule him out for the rest of the season loomed even after the game was finished. According to an MRI, it is confirmed that Rodgers officially tore his Achilles on the fourth play of his Jets’ career and hence, is ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Rodgers suffered the injury just 4 minutes into the first quarter when he was sacked by the Bills’ veteran linebacker Leonard Floyd. Initially, the 39-year-old appeared to be okay as he stood up and was getting back to the huddle but seconds later he went back to the turf which led the officials to stop the game.

The former 2nd overall pick Zach Wilson replaced Rodgers as the quarterback while the veteran was helped off the field by the trainers for a medical check. While it is confirmed that Rodgers’ much-hyped 2023-24 season is over, many speculate that this might be the end of Rodgers’ illustrious NFL career. The ex-Packers QB, who has had a Hall of Fame career, will turn 40 in 3 months.

The NFL hadn’t seen such an offseason hype as Rodgers had ahead of this season. Rodgers raised the Jets’ expectations to another level only to give fans a truckload of misery in just 4 plays.

After Aaron Rodgers was helped off the field by the trainers during the first quarter of the game, the young signal-caller Zach Wilson replaced the veteran under center.

Now, the former second-overall pick Wilson is expected to be the starting quarterback for the next few weeks or the entire 2023 season depending on the veteran’s injury.

Rodgers was the big story of the entire NFL 2023 off-season. He was acquired by the Jets from the Green Bay Packers in a blockbuster trade since they need some stability in the QB position. Now that Rodgers is injured, Wilson will get back the starting QB job.

On the sporting side of things, the Bills were disastrous on the offense and lost to the Jets 16-22 in OT. The Bills QB Josh Allen threw 3 interceptions in the game. This is Allen’s 5th consecutive OT loss.
