Aaron Rodgers may be at home in California, recovering from injuries but that doesn’t mean he can’t be by the side of his fellow New York Jets. It wasn’t different when his team traveled to Mile High to face the Denver Broncos. This was the first time former Broncos head coach and current Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett was back in his old stomping ground.
Hackett got his sweet revenge when he saw most of the offensive play-calling work like a charm. In the end, they took the victory back to the Big Apple. Not only did his team rack up 407 yards on the day, but they also managed to restrict the home team to just shy of 300 yards. The Jets also had more yards (6.6 per play) than their opponents.
After the game concluded, Hackett was presented with a game ball in a raucous locker room. It was delirious as players cheered as loud as they could. Why wouldn’t they? This game had a lot at stake besides getting back to winning ways, and the Jets were determined to prove a point at the very least against the Broncos.
Last season, Nathaniel Hackett was at the helm of the Denver franchise. He only managed to win five games all season and was let go. Sean Payton took over in the rain and declared that the 2022 season was the worst coaching season he had ever witnessed.
This drew a lot of attention, and with it, even more criticism. Aaron Rodgers, who previously worked with Hackett at Green Bay, didn’t waste any time standing beside him. And from his recent tweet regarding the much-awaited victory, it’s clear he can keep grudges. The four-time NFL MVP tweeted, “W #hackett and love emoji” to celebrate the occasion.

The Jets fought hard for Nathaniel Hackett
What makes a good team? When one piece of a group starts to bleed, the others bleed with them as well. It means camaraderie and having each other’s back. It’s not limited to only the players but extends to every individual that’s connected with the team. The Jets’ victory was proof that they were not only fighting for the win, but they wanted to win it for Nathaniel Hackett. After the game, the media weren’t able to receive any reactions from him, but the players spoke on his behalf.

“If someone talks s*** about one of us, one of our coaches, or anybody in the building, we want to have their back,” tight end C.J. Uzomah said. “This one was for Hack [Nathaniel Hackett].” When the final whistle blew, players and members of the Jets organization flocked to congratulate Hackett.
Linebacker Quincy Williams had the same reaction. “Put some respect on my dog’s name,” he said. However, Corner Sauce Gardner summed it up beautifully. “Even if he wasn’t telling us, ‘This is personal to me,’ you could just look at how he carried himself all week,” Gardner said. “He had that look on his face. He wanted the win.”
In the history of the NFL Jets vs. Broncos, there has never been that much animosity between each other. But Sean Payton’s comments lit a fire under Gang Green. In the end, they won the game comfortably with a 31-21 scoreline.
