“You don’t go play for Satan,” Aaron Rodgers showered with praise by broadcaster for turning down ‘snake’ Bill Belichick and the Patriots for trade
Carton says Jets have a better squad going into the 2023 season compared to the Patriots which could have played a big role in deciding where to go.

There’s always a buzz when a player like Aaron Rodgers decides to move from one team to another, and the 2023 offseason was lit up when he left the Green Bay Packers for the New York Jets. However, the Jets were not the only ones interested in signing the Super Bowl winner. Apparently, the Patriots wanted to bring Rodgers to New England and were subsequently turned down.
Craig Carton has certainly made his feelings known about Rodgers turning down the Patriots and Bill Belichick. “Those snakes in the grass in New England can never be trusted,” said Carton of the Carton Show. “I wanna thank my main man (Aaron) Rodgers for recognizing you don’t go play for Satan.” It seems Carton took a dig at Coach Belichick, who is known for being very strict and a by-the-book man.
When longtime FOX Sports NFL analyst Craig Carton first broke the news, fans refused to believe it. But as time rolled on and more and more media outlets started picking up the story, the truth finally emerged. The Patriots did indeed approach Rodgers’ agent, David Dunn, about a potential move. But he turned it down, saying, “No! We ain’t playing for New England; we want to be a Jet.”
The possibility of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick training another elite quarterback is scary, and the crew of the show is aware of it. But who would want to miss a chance to play in the Big Apple? Co-host JJ touched upon that, saying, “I mean, I wouldn’t wanna go to New England either, you know, so I kinda agree with Aaron (Rodgers); you know what I mean, New York is a little better than New England.”

Carton is jubilant that Aaron Rodgers chose the Jets over the Patriots
Carton clearly seems to be a fan of Rodgers’ Jets move, as he did not want to see the 39-year-old play under Bill Belichick. However, the cast did acknowledge that the prospect would have been scary. “It‘s scary to even think about Bill Belichick and Aaron Rodgers together—those two football minds. I mean, we have seen what he did with Tom Brady,” JJ said. The legendary Belichick-Brady duo lifted the Lombardi Trophy six times.
Aaron Rodgers eventually became a Jets player on April 26, just before the 2023 NFL Draft. Since then, he has been loving his life in New York. Praising the beautiful drive-ins from the countryside to the main city.
He took part in the Jets OTAs last month and is hitting the gym with NBA star Kevin Durant. But his turning down the Patriots seems to be the new talk of the NFL on Twitter.
The Patriots may be looking to replace current quarterback Mac Jones after last season’s fallout with Belichick. Rodgers would have been the ideal replacement, but it wasn’t meant to be.
