The New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has successfully had surgery done on his torn Achilles and is now in the recovery process. The veteran signal-caller recently implied that he could come back as soon as the 2023 postseason. And now, Rodgers has revealed how he channeled his inner Kobe Bryant for the Achilles’ surgery and his recovery process.

During the recent episode of the ESPN podcast The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers talked about the thought process behind getting the surgery done as quickly as he did and his road to recovery.

“First of all, I knew that Kobe [Bryant] had done his Achilles so I looked into it right away,” said Rodgers. “On the table at Monday night, I thought about Kob and I’d seen Muse but forgotten that he’d gotten surgery on the next day. I didn’t realize Kobe had gotten it the next day, but I didn’t want to waste any time.”

Furthermore, Rodgers also talked about how long it would take for him to recover after the surgery. The 39-year-old quarterback acknowledged age is not on his side, but he is still hoping for a swift recovery.

“There’s a lot of different ideas about the overall rehab,” said Rodgers. “I think what I would like to say is, just because someone hasn’t done it a certain way, it doesn’t mean it’s not possible. I got definitely some odds stacked against me based on age. But I like it, stack all the odds against me and see what happens.”

Rodgers is expected to miss the rest of the 2023 season and some even thought the veteran will hang up his boots due to the injury. However, the Jets quarterback has confirmed he will look to keep playing in 2024.

When the MRI confirmed that Aaron Rodgers had indeed ruptured his Achilles, many thought Rodgers would end his remarkable 18-year-long career and announce his retirement. However, Rodgers has confirmed he is looking forward to quickly recovering from the injury and returning to the field as soon as possible. In fact, the Jets’ signal-caller implied that he could return to the field for the playoffs during his recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show.

Well, for that, the Jets have to make it to the postseason under their former second-overall pick Zach Wilson. If Wilson can lead the New York-based football team to the playoffs, there’s a very slight possibility Rodgers could return to the field to lead the Jets during the 2023 postseason.
