The hopes and dreams of the New York Jets were shattered when their franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with a leg injury during their week 1 game last month. Rodgers suffered a ‘season-ending’ Achilles injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the 2023 regular season. And now, a couple of weeks after the injury, NBC reporter Melissa Stark has provided an update regarding Rodgers’ injury.

“His plan is to rejoin the team permanently after their Week 7 bye. And he told me his goal is to play again this season,” NBC’s Melissa Stark said during the week 4 broadcast.  The Sunday Night Football reporter Stark said that Rodgers revealed the information during a conversation they had before the Jets’ week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This is the first time Rodgers has revealed that he would be able to make a comeback this season itself. Before this, the 10-time Pro Bowler once said that he would try to make a comeback this season during one of his appearances at The Pat McAfee Show.

Nonetheless, Rodgers, who was at the game in crutches also told the NBC reporter that he would be traveling back to Los Angeles to get his stitches removed and continue his rehab process, which includes over five hours of light work a day.

Aaron Rodgers made the trip to New York after being medically cleared by the doctors to fly. The 39-year-old quarterback only arrived in New York on Saturday night and surprised his teammates at the hotel. He also participated in the Jets’ team meeting and advised everyone to stop pointing fingers at everyone else.

Anyhow, Rodgers still has a long way to go in his rehab process but if everything goes according to plan, the 4-time league MVP could be back on the field for the Jets’ postseason, given that the Jets make it to the playoffs under Zach Wilson.

Zach Wilson balled in front of Aaron Rodgers despite the loss

The Jets led by their former second-overall pick Zach Wilson surprised a lot of people on Sunday by going toe-to-toe against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in their week 4 matchup.

In fact, Wilson outplayed Mahomes and almost led his team to cause a major upset against the Kansas City-based football team. Many believe Wilson got the confidence from Rodgers, who reportedly participated in the team meeting and shared some messages with the players ahead of the game.

Still, the Jets suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Chiefs and fell to 1-3. Now, they will look to bounce back with a victory against the Denver Broncos, who they are scheduled to face on Sunday in their week 5 matchup.
