New York Jets fans will be happy to hear how long Aaron Rodgers is planning to play in the NFL. In a recent interview, the veteran quarterback revealed his desire to play deep into his career like Tom Brady.
Rodgers is entering his 19th season as a professional football player. But his move to the Jets has brought the swagger back from his earlier days with the Green Bay Packers. He is enjoying his time in the Big Apple so much that he plans to spend more than a couple of years there.
“Oh definitely, I’d love to play a few years here,” Rodgers told Steve Serby of the New York Post. “I think if you would’ve asked me five or six years ago, I would have said probably not. But I definitely see that now as a possibility.”
There are only a handful of quarterbacks who have played beyond the age of 40. Tom Brady is the first name that pops up, as the former Patriot retired when he was 45. But then he made a surprising U-turn and played one more season for the Buccaneers.
Aaron Rodgers is currently 39 years old, and it’s more than likely he can continue for a few more years. If he manages to keep himself injury-free, then Jets fans can watch him play for a long time.
“Five would kind of get me to 45,” he added. “But I definitely don’t want to be one-and-done here (the New York Jets).”
Can Aaron Rodgers bring back the New York Jets glory days?

Rodgers’ acquisition attracted a lot of attention. Very few predicted the Super Bowl winner would leave one green for another. However, the draft of Jordan Love was a sign that the Packers were looking to inject some fresh blood into their aging squad. That’s one of the reasons they released Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb. They ended up signing with the Jets as well.
On top of that, Rodgers gets to work with Nathaniel Hackett. The former Packers offensive coordinator is now part of the New York setup. Their partnership brought three MVP titles to Rodgers.
But it will be a challenge for them to back up all the hype they have generated throughout the offseason. The New York Jets haven’t reached the postseason since the 2010 campaign or won the Super Bowl since the 1968 season. However, the odds are in their favor to go all the way in 2023. They will kick off their campaign against the Buffalo Bills on Monday.
