The New York Jets franchise quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t a big fan of aggressive out-of-line comments made by the Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton about the Jets’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Recently Payton blamed Hackett for the Broncos’ abysmal campaign last season and called it one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the league. And now, Rodgers has come to the aid of his now-offensive coordinator.

“It made me feel bad that someone who’s accomplished a lot in the league is that insecure that they have to take another man down to set themselves up for some sort of easy fall if it doesn’t go well for that team this year,” Rodgers told  NFL Network’s Peter Schrager on Sunday training camp.“I thought it was way out of line, inappropriate and I think he needs to keep my coaches’ names out of his mouth.”

Rodgers also claimed that his love for Hackett goes deep and called him one of the favorite coaches he ever had in the league. The 10-time Pro Bowl QB and Hackett spent some time together in Green Bay before Hackett left for the head coaching job in Denver. It should be noted that Rodgers had back-to-back MVP campaigns while having Hackett as his offensive coordinator.

Nathaniel Hackett’s rookie year as the head coach of the Broncos did not go well as planned and he got axed even before the end of the 2022 regular season. He then got a job as the OC of the Jets and reunited with Rodgers in the 2023 off-season.

Nonetheless, Sean Payton has apologized for his aggressive comments about the Jets’ coordinator. On Friday, he said that he still had his “Fox hat on” and not his “head coach hat” when he made those aggressive remarks about Hackett.

The Jets’ new off-season acquisition Aaron Rodgers recently restructured his contract and took a massive $35 million pay cut to help the New York-based football team to save some cap space.

And now, some shocking new details about the contract have been revealed. According to reports, the 39-year-old QB has technically signed a 7-year deal with the Jets with no void years.

This means Rodgers can retire in the middle but he will not be able to play for any other team until his current contract expires in 2030 unless the Jets grant him a release.

Rodgers likely did this to save some cap space every year for the Jets and will likely retire after a couple of seasons with the Jets. If he decides not to retire, he could play for the Jets till 2030.
