Aaron Rodgers discloses he talks to Zach Wilson ‘every single day’ while hoping he will end Jets’ horrible losing streak against the Patriots this week
Zach Wilson will face the New York Jets divisional rivals the New England Patriots in the next game, whom he has never beaten in four attempts.

24-year-old Zach Wilson found himself at the center of attention once again on opening day when Aaron Rodgers was carted off against the Buffalo Bills. The New York Jets managed to win that game but were brought back down to earth by the Dallas Cowboys. Horrible memories of the past two seasons flashed in front of the Big Apple crowd. But Rodgers has faith in his protegee.
“I talk to Zach all the time,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee yesterday on the Pat McAfee Show live from Notre Dame University. “Zach’s my guy. I’m pulling for him.”
When the 39-year-old arrived back in the offseason, the Jets had their sights set on the Super Bowl. With a top-five defense and a strong offense, they had every chance of fulfilling their target. Rodgers took Wilson under his wing and, in an interview, declared he would hand over the quarterback’s job after a few years. His influence on the BYU graduate was clear to see in the preseason. He had a 66% completion rate in four games.
Unfortunately, Aaron Rodgers is now watching the games from his home in Malibu, California. He had to surgically repair his left Achilles and is likely out for the rest of the season. However, that hasn’t stopped the Super Bowl winner from motivating Wilson or his Jets teammates.
“We talk every single day,” he added. “I just want him to go out and play free and confident this week. Bill Belichick and the Patriots, the Jets haven’t beaten them in a while. So, good time to end the streak.”
Zach Wilson is learning from his past mistakes against the New England Patriots
As Aaron Rodgers mentioned during the interview, the New York Jets do not have a great record against their next opponent, the New England Patriots. Especially Zach Wilson, who lost both games against their AFC East rivals last season. But the former first-round pick is ready for retribution.
“I just need to be smart with the ball,” Wilson said in a recent interview. “For me, it’s learning from those mistakes. Last time we played them at home, a lot of them were just dumb plays by me. I watch the whole season [2022] to improve and get better. I feel like I’m in a good spot.”
Wilson threw three interceptions against Bill Belichick‘s team last time around. He is aware that the Jets are on a 14-game losing streak against them. But he also knows a win would mean 2-0 in the AFC East.
