Why would anyone wear wired earphones in the age of AirPods? Considering it’s more convenient to move around or even work out, they don’t fall off. It may not be for everyone, as the price is a factor. But for a football player like Aaron Rodgers, for whom money is not an issue and yet still chooses to indulge in old-school tech, that is surprising, to say the least.
Rodgers has spent more than a decade lighting up the NFL with his accurate passes and smart play-calling. The 39-year-old is in the twilight of his career but does not appear to be slowing down any time soon. During that time, he earned a staggering amount of cash from his salaries and several brand endorsements. So he is not short of money.
He signed a four-year contract worth $134 million with the Green Bay Packers in 2018. According to Spotrac, his average salary was $33,500,000. When his deal ran out earlier this year, he left for the New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers came to the Big Apple in hopes of winning more Super Bowls. However, his salary remained a mystery to the public until recently. The 10-time Pro Bowler penned a three-year, $112,500,000 contract, which is almost $35 million less than what he was supposed to get.
Rodgers later revealed that he took the cut so that the Jets could sign more players. He highlighted several elite free agents that the Jets could sign with that money. That did not stop social media from poking fun at the veteran quarterback. They teased Rodgers for not upgrading his wired earphones to something more 2023.
Social media believes Aaron Rodgers can’t afford an AirPod because of his pay cut

Aaron Rodgers likes to keep it simple. But sometimes the crowd wants to see their favorite players spend lots of money on luxuries, apparel, and holidays. When Rodgers was spotted wearing mobile earphones; social media floodgate of trolls spilled out.
Maybe Aaron Rodgers goes retro to prevent all the criticism from disrupting his concentration. The multiple-time NFL’s most valuable player prefers keeping it simple but knows how to spend big. He also knows how to form new relationships, as he has done with the Jets bandwagon. Since arriving in New York, Rodgers has been busy growing his circle of friends through several dinners. He was even seen at Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour concert and also at the NBA Finals game.
Furthermore, he attended a charitable golf tournament last month. His teammate, Sauce Gardner, gave him a diamond necklace that had the number 8 written on it. It’s safe to say Aaron Rodgers is looking forward to playing for the New York Jets in the upcoming season.
