Accuser drops lawsuit against ex-Bills punter Matt Araiza over r*pe allegations

Matt Araiza, the former punter of the Buffalo Bills, was thrown out of the league after he was accused of se*ual assault during his time with the San Diego State University back in 2021. Now, the accuser, identified as Jane Doe, has dropped her civil lawsuit against Araiza but will continue her case against 4 other defendants.
According to multiple reports, Araiza and the alleged victim reached a settlement agreement. As a result, Jane Doe has dropped her accusations against the former Bills punter.
According to the settlement obtained by ESPN, Doe dropped the civil lawsuit filed back in 2022, while the former Punter agreed to drop the defamation lawsuit against her filed back in July 2023. Furthermore, the lady will continue her case against 4 other defendants, former teammates of Araiza. Additionally, the former NFL punter also maintains the ability to sue the woman’s attorney, Dan Gilleon, and his law office.
Araiza’s attorneys Dick Semerdjian and Kristen Bush released a statement calling the win “bittersweet” and said Araiza was forced to defend himself against false accusations that ruined his NFL career.
The win is bittersweet. Matt has been forced to defend himself for the last sixteen months against false accusations and a campaign to ruin his career in the NFL. He will never get this time in his life back.the statement said via Yahoo Sports
Araiza was drafted by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was released by the team in August, a couple of days after the aforementioned lady filed her lawsuit. Araiza never played for the Bills in a regular season game.
Matt Araiza hopes to resume his NFL career
After successfully clearing his name against r*pe allegations, the former 6th-round draft pick Matt Araiza is now looking to resume his NFL career according to his attorneys.

Araiza was accused by a woman of gang r*ape. According to a lawsuit filed in August 2022, Araiza, who was 21 at the time, took the alleged victim inside a house where he and three other men abused her for about one and half hours.
However, a further investigation revealed that Araiza was not present when the alleged r*pe incident happened. So, San Diego’s District Attorney’s office did not file a criminal charge in the case. Later, San Diego State University concluded its investigation and found no evidence against Araiza in the alleged gang r*pe incident.
