Since the AFL-NFL, no non-quarterback, offensive tackle or edge rusher has gone as the number 1 pick in the NFL draft. However University of Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner is looking to change that for the better.

Ahmad Gardner believes that he more than deserves to be the No.1 pick in the NFL draft and feels like he’s the best in the draft and there’s no way he is going to be ignored.

Although Ahmad Gardner has said that he will be happy with whichever team picks him, he is confident in the fact that whichever team refuses to draft him, will go on to regret it later.

I feel like I’m the chosen one,” Gardner said, in an interview with Darryl Slater of NJ.com. “I feel like I’m the best in the draft. There’s no doubt about it. There’s no way I can be a bust. That shouldn’t even be an option. I just feel like I can go on the field and dominate any receiver who lines up in front of me,” Gardner said.

Ahmad Gardner has been brilliant during his time with Cincinnati Bearcats and recorded 99 tackles, 3.5 sacks, nine interceptions and 27 pass breakups in the three seasons that he was with them.

“It’ll be easy,” Gardner said. “The older I get, the better I want to get. I don’t want to be one of those guys who gets to about 30 and they say, ‘Ah, he’s about to retire.’ At 30, I want to be playing my best. I want to be better than I was when I was 25.”
