It has been roughly half a year since the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a heartbreaking loss against the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs at the Super Bowl game. But it seems the Eagles players are not over the loss due to the controversial ending to the game. Now, AJ Brown has become the most recent Eagle to take a jab at the referees for their title loss back in February.
Recently, Brown made a collaboration video with the famed football YouTuber Deestroying. In the video, Eagles pass catcher was asked whether the defensive backs in the NFL usually hold the receivers. “All the time, but refs don’t call it. They never call it,” Brown replied.
But Brown made sure to take a jab at the Super Bowl referees, who called the holding call on the Philly defensive back James Bradberry during the final minutes of the close game between the Eagles and the Chiefs.“They just called it during the Super Bowl, on that one play,” said Brown.
Looking back at the game, it was evident that Bradberry indeed held the Chiefs wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster, but most people took issue with the timing of the call. But if the refs didn’t call it, they would’ve faced the wrath of the Kansas City fans since it could’ve cost them the Super Bowl game. The call allowed Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to run out the clock and kick a field goal in the last few seconds.
The controversial call was a hot topic for debate for a long time after the Super Bowl. Both the Chiefs and the Eagles players were going at each other on social media regarding the call for a brief period.

AJ Brown is not riding high on last season’s success
The Eagles surprised a lot of people last season by making it all the way to the Super Bowl game. They did this on the back of remarkable individual campaigns from their franchise QB Jalen Hurts and WR AJ Brown.
Hurts finished second in the MVP voting last season while Brown set the Eagles’ franchise record for most receiving yards in a single season with 1,496 receiving yards. But Brown isn’t riding high on last season’s success.
Speaking with the reports during the training camp, Brown said that he wants to continue to grow and continue to get better at his game. Despite his achievements last season, he feels like he has to“earn respect all over again.”
The 2-time Pro Bowler will be looking to break the Eagles’ single-season receiving yards record that he set in the last season. But his ultimate goal would be to help the Eagles to win a chip in the upcoming NFL season.
