The Philadelphia Eagles had a dream run last year as they went all the way to the Super Bowl. The team was the best on both sides of the scrimmage line throughout the regular season, which made them a formidable opponent. However, they did fall short against the Chiefs in the final few minutes of the Super Bowl.

The backfield of the Eagles lacked superstars, but they still managed to work with what they had. Philly ranked 15th overall in rushing stats in 2022 as per NFL.com. With the Eagles lacking firepower in the backfield, star wide receiver AJ Brown tried to recruit his former teammate to Philly.

Former NFL player Akbar Gbaja-Biamila recently tweeted that Titans running back Derrick Henry is being traded to the Eagles. Brown was extremely pleased to hear this news (enough though it’s just a hoax) and tried his best to get back with his former teammate. The wideout tweeted, “Nobody has #22. Make it happen if it’s possible.”

Fans were also amazed at the possibility of seeing AJ Brown and Derrick Henry play together once again. The duo wreaked havoc on defenses during their time together in Tennessee. With the lack of a star at tailback, the Eagles might be persuaded to sign King Henry to the roster.

There were rumors earlier in the offseason that the Titans were shopping Derrick Henry. However, there is little to no chance that the Titans trade him, or even Henry himself wishes to leave the team. The former second-round pick is currently in the final year of his contract. His base salary is $10.5 million in 2023, and King Henry is probably looking for a contract extension.

Philly already traded their first-round pick to the Titans to acquire AJ Brown, so there’s no way they let go of another one to sign 29-year-old Derrick Henry. The 2023 NFL draft has a lot of talent at the running back position, including Bijan Robinson, who is touted to be the best in the draft and a potential first-round pick.

There’s hardly a scenario in which the Eagles choose an aged running back instead of a young rookie in the draft to strengthen the backfield. Despite being 29 years old, which is old in running back years, Henry posted another great season in 2022. He rushed for 1,538 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Derrick Henry is also the eighth running back in NFL history to rush for 2000 yards or more in a single season. While Henry still has got it, maybe the Eagles decide to take a different route.
