Al Michaels has always been one of the most recognized sportscasters of all time. In his long tenure as a part of the industry, Michaels has delivered some memorable speeches that are still remembered today.
Who could forget his famous quote, “Do you believe in miracles?” during the 1980 Summer Olympics? He has been part of some of the biggest shows in the world, from the NBA finals to the Super Bowl to the World Series. At some point in time, any event would feel less impactful without Al Michaels casting it.
But he is also famous for his dietary choices. The 78-year-old apparently doesn’t eat vegetables; rather, he doesn’t even know what they taste like. In 2012, he told the New York Times, “If I died right now, I might be the human being who lived the longest without ever eating a vegetable.”
Since then, several media outlets have kept asking Michaels why he chose to stay away from vegetables. In a recent CNN interview with Chris Wallace, he touched on the subject.
“I always pushed vegetables away,” he said. “And I guess what I have proven is that man does not need vegetables to survive.”
Wallace then questioned whether he would like a nibble on a carrot. “No, that’s an objectionable vegetable,” he replied. “I just don’t even like the look of it.”
Social media intrigued with Al Michaels never eating a vegetable
After the interview aired, the audience was intrigued by Al Michaels’ way of life. Not eating any vegetables is something unheard of. So some of them took to social media and expressed their thoughts on the subject.
Well, vegetable jokes aside, Michaels is currently part of the Amazon Prime family. He is scheduled to call the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Denver Broncos on October 12.
