On Thursday Night Football, the New York Jets went against the Cleveland Browns in a crucial week 17 game at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Ohio. During Amazon Prime Video’s broadcast of the game, sportscaster Al Michaels took a cheeky shot at the Houston Astros.
During the second quarter of the game, Amazon broadcast’s mic caught a weird banging noise seemingly made by the Browns’ home crowd to cheer up their team. But, Michaels decided to make a hilarious joke about it.

Somebody’s pounding on that trash can, I think the Astros must be in town. I’m sorry. … Don’t rip me.Al Michaels joked
Michaels’ joke was about the 2017 Astors trash can scandal. The Astors reportedly used an illegal system to steal opposing teams’ signals before relaying them to their team players with audio cues such as banging on trash cans. It is one of the biggest scandals in baseball and people would never let the Astros live it down.
Al Michaels’ joke made his sportscasting partner Kirk Herbstreit and many others laugh. Besides, the short clip of Michaels’ joke went viral on social media and was reshared by many users. It accumulated over 375k views online within just hours of posting. Check out the footage attached below.
On the sporting side of things, the Browns were able to secure a dominant victory against the Jets and managed to seal their spot in the upcoming postseason. Moreover, their new quarterback Joe Flacco has also given them a shot at securing the No.1 seed in the AFC playoff pictures.
Al Michaels won’t be part NBC’s NFL playoff coverage
The renowned sports broadcaster Al Michaels is one of the most respected commentators in the football world. He was part of the NBC’s NFL coverage team.

But, recent reports revealed that the network has decided to exclude Michaels from their NFL playoff coverage. Initially, many thought Michaels was let go because of his criticism of excessive Taylor Swift coverage in the league.
However, later The New York Post revealed, that Michaels was let go because of his perceived lack of enthusiasm in the booth. Honestly, even fans have been complaining about Michaels’ not-so-energizing calls while covering the games.
So, Michaels — who has called during 11 Super Bowls — won’t be in the booth during this NFL postseason. Instead, the network has reportedly decided to go with the duo Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth for the three playoff games they are scheduled to broadcast in the upcoming playoffs.
