In a shock to everyone, Nick Saban, the former head coach of Alabama Crimson Tide, retired a few weeks ago. He is undoubtedly the most successful coach in Alabama and college football history. He not only provided Alabama with six championships but also produced NFL-caliber players. Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe made a hilarious joke about Saban’s departure.

Jalen Milroe playfully took a jibe at the former head coach of Alabama. Milroe joked about Saban’s age and said he understood why the legendary coach retired. This is what he said:

I do miss coach Saban. He was a big reason why I came to Alabama. To see him go is going to be tough on us. But we have to realize that coach Saban is 28 years from being 100 years old. So we’ve got to let him retire.

Alabama will start a new phase of their college football without Nick Saban from the next season onwards. Nick Saban is well revered not only in college football but also in the professional space. The legendary Bill Belichick considers him as one of the best. The decorated college football team appointed Kalen DeBoer to lead the team from the sidelines.

DeBoer is well-experienced in college football. The former Washington Huskies man had a role in leading his former QB Michael Penix Jr. to become a candidate for the Heisman Trophy Award. In addition, he also coached the Huskies to the National Championship game.

Jalen Milroe retained for Alabama

Alabama witnessed a lot of key players leaving the club. Milroe also had the opportunity to leave the team to explore other opportunities. Nonetheless, Milroe did not choose that option. He stayed with the club. He had a deep commitment to the club, and he also showed interest in working with the newly hired head coach.

This is what he said:

What's for you is for you, and for me, it's to stay at Alabama. I've got a lot of stuff at Alabama I still want to achieve. I signed my letter of intent to come to the University of Alabama.

While speaking on the head coach, the player quarterback added that the team would run in the perfect way under DeBoer. It would act like a team. He showed respect for the statistics that DeBoer had for the Huskies. Only time will tell if Alabama can remain as a college football giant even after the departure of Nick Saban.
