The recent outbreak of war between Israel and the militant group Hamas has led to the loss of thousands of innocent lives. It has also left tourists from other nations in the midst of this conflict in a scary situation. While the airports in Israel are still open and functioning, major air carriers have suspended the number of flights to the country.
This situation had put Alex Anzalone in a terrifying position as his parents, Sal and Judy Anzalone had traveled to Jerusalem. They are part of the 53-person group from the First Naples Church in Naples, Florida. The linebacker for the Detroit Lions had tweeted President Joe Biden requesting him to take cognizance of this matter and bring his parents back to the country.

POTUS has been doing its best to attempt to bring back citizens who have been stranded in the conflict-ridden region. Despite their best attempts, the war has to the death of many American citizens and has displaced hundreds of them rendering them missing. Reports of Americans being held hostage by members of Hamas sent shivers down the spines of their kith and kin back home.
Alex Anzalone had to deal with the uncertainty surrounding his parents and had the pressure to perform on the NFL field as the Detroit Lions were playing against the Carolina Panthers. The game ended in victorious fashion for the Lions as they dominated Carolina by scoring 42 points on them as opposed to their 24. He ended the night with 8 solo tackles and 3 assisted tackles.

The linebacker confirmed earlier today on Twitter that his parents are finally on their way back home while expressing gratitude to his fans for their support and prayers. He had this to say, “Thank you to everyone who has been saying prayers for my family and their safety.” He described the past couple of days as “anxiety-filled” and “scary”.

Alan Brumback, the pastor of the Church posted an update via Facebook in which he confirmed the safety of the 53-person group from Naples, Florida. The group was scheduled to leave on Thursday, the 12th of October. And Anzalone’s tweet confirms that the group is back on its way into the United States. The linebacker was able to have a sigh of relief upon hearing this news and expressed his gratitude to God and the people who made it possible for his parents to return.
The linebacker has been having a good year, 4 weeks into the season and he has managed to record 24 solo sacks and 11 assisted sacks. He was able to put up a good performance against the Carolina Panthers as he ended the game with 8 solo tackles and 3 assisted tackles.
The Detroit Lions have managed to establish themselves as the underdogs this season. The team’s season debut against the defending Super Bowl champion, the Kansas City Chiefs ended in a narrow victory in favor of the Lions setting the tone and sending a resounding message to all the other teams in the NFL that they are legit contenders for the Super Bowl this season. Rightfully so, as they have managed to have a 4-1 record and are sitting at the top of the NFC North rankings. The Lions will look to secure yet another victory as they face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.
