The New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from a 2022 incident in a Las Vegas nightclub beatdown. Kamara was accused of physical assault by Darnell Greene. And now, Kamara has agreed to a plea deal and will pay more than $100,000 in compensation.

As part of the plea deal published by 8NewsNow, the Saints RB Kamara must perform 30 hours of community service, pay a fine of $500 and also pay more than $100k as compensation for the victim’s medical expenses. Kamara is required to do all these things before a status check that is scheduled for October 12 at 9:30 a.m.

The victim, Darnell Greene, was represented by Attorney Tony Buzbee. The attorney received a statement from the Saints running back after he agreed to a plea deal. “Please accept my sincere apologies for the events of February 5, 2022, in Las Vegas,” Kamara wrote in a signed letter to Greene, according to Buzbee’s Instagram post.

“Alvin is pleased that this matter is behind him and looks forward to a successful NFL season,” Kamara’s attorneys told USA Today. The incident happened back in February 2022 in a Las Vegas nightclub. Kamara, NFL DB Chris Lammons, and two other friends viciously attacked Greene after an altercation in the club’s elevator, according to reports.

Greene sued Kamara and the others back in October, claiming he suffered “disfiguring facial fracture” and blunt trauma to his head. In the lawsuit, his attorneys also claimed the victim will have to undergo multiple surgeries because of that beatdown.

The Saints’ former Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara has settled the misdemeanor charges stemming from the 2022 nightclub incident by agreeing to a plea deal.

But the 5-time Pro Bowler could still face disciplinary actions by the league if he was found guilty of violating the NFL’s conduct policy. “We have been closely monitoring all developments in the matter, which remains under review,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old running back will be entering his 7th year in the league in 2023. He still has 2 years remaining on the 5-year contract he signed with the New Orleans-based football team back in 2020.

Last season, Kamara’s production in the backfield took a dip because of his injuries. In 2022, he only had 4 total touchdowns and failed to make it to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. With legal issues behind him, Kamara is looking to get back to his old form in the upcoming season.
