New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been suspended for three games following his alleged altercation with a man at a Las Vegas nightclub during Pro Bowl weekend last February. He was later taken into custody at Allegiant Stadium after the game.

Kamara took responsibility and apologized for his behavior. “I never want to be involved in something where someone gets hurt or injured,” the 28-year-old said. “But I’m a man. I take accountability for it; I was completely wrong. From here, I just have to make the right decisions.”

The five-time Pro Bowler, along with Indianapolis Colts cornerback Chris Lammons and three others, had earlier faced felony charges of battery with substantial bodily harm. He recently applied for a plea agreement to reduce the charges. For the court to vote in his favor, the Georgia native has to complete community service hours. Moreover, he had to pay off the $105,000 medical bill of the man whom he injured.

“I embarrassed the Saints, my family, and my mother,” Kamara Lamented. “I embarrassed myself, the city, and, obviously, the NFL.”

Kamara, Lammons, Percy Harris (who was identified in court as Kamara’s manager), and a few others allegedly left Darnell Greene Jr. unconscious on February 5th. CCTV camera footage revealed Greene was trying to enter the elevator at the nightclub when the men chased and attacked him. He later sued Kamara for $10 million, stating he received an orbital fracture along with injuries to his neck and face.

The felony charges against the defendants were dropped by the court. However, the NFL committee decided to ban Alvin Kamara for three games. The announcement has sparked outrage on social media from fans.

Fans not happy with only three-game ban for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara

The NFL may have shown mercy by only giving Kamara a three-game ban, but the social media thinks a harsher penalty was in order. They demanded similar punishment to the Lions wide receivers Jameson Williams and Stanley Berryhill, who have to sit out six games for breaking NFL gambling laws.

Kamara will miss the first three regular-season games against the Tennessee Titans, Carolina Panthers, and Green Bay Packers. It’s a massive blow for the New Orleans Saints as they look to replicate their 2009 Super Bowl-winning campaign.

The robust RB has 5,135 rushing yards and 49 touchdowns in his six-year career so far. Last season was his worst so far, with a massive drop in the TD department. However, head coach Dennis Allen may have predicted the suspension, which is why they signed free agent running back Jamaal Williams. Moreover, the Saints drafted Kendre Miller this year to add some more depth.

Williams, as part of the Detroit Lions last season, led the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns. He also rushed over 1,000 yards for the first time in his career.
