As Bill Belichick has his door shut on the Atlanta Falcons HC job next year, a recent clip of his former player went viral. Rob Gronkowski, the former TE of the Patriots, made a prediction a few days back. He said that the Atlanta Falcons needed to give the charge to Bill Belichick. He further stated that Belichick had the experience to lift a team from a difficult position.

Rob Gronkowski said on The Up & Adams Show:

I would 100 percent hand it over to coach Belichick. He has a proven record of being able to handle it. He handled it very well for however long he was in New England – what was it like 20-plus years? He knows how to do it. He’s got experience, so hand it over to him. He’s going to change the program around.

It is unsure whether Arthur Blank, the owner of the team heard Gronkowski, but he did initially decide to bring Bill Belichick in the place of Arthur Smith. The veteran coach produced three losing seasons with the same statistics. He won seven games in each season and suffered 10 losses. The Falcons owner had enough and sacked the head coach.

Belichick also had a similar kind of story. He was sacked by owner Robert Kraft after the poor performance in consecutive seasons. Belichick, this season provided only four wins against 13 losses. They had their worst season since 2000. Hence, the Patriots owner fired him and announced the post-Belichick era in the New England Patriots.

Skip Bayless questioned the legacy of Bill Belichick

Even after the end of the season, Belichick is still being criticized for his performance. Veteran analyst Skip Bayless, in a recent episode of Undisputed, added that without Tom Brady Belichick is not the greatest offensive mind. He can be a good defensive mind but not a great offensive coach.

Bayless said:

You guys say that it is unquestioned that Bill Belichick is the greatest coach ever... without Tom Brady as his quarterback, Bill Belichick is 21 games under 500. He is 64 and 85 in games that Tom Brady did not start a quarterback. And once Tom Brady got kicked out at the backdoor from New England, Bill went 29-38 in the four years he made it to one playoff game 41-17.

It is to be seen whether Belichick gets the necessary success in the Falcons in the coming time.
