The Dalvin Cook transfer saga is at a crossroads, with two franchises duking it out for his services. While holding out for the best price, the 27-year-old is also looking for a squad to challenge for the Super Bowl. It seems Andrew Hawkins has some answers regarding which franchise would suit Cook better.
“You know if you’re this good as Dalvin Cook, every team is a fit,” said Hawkins while appearing on ESPN and claimed that “the team that stands out, the place he should go, the best fit for him where he is at his career is the Miami Dolphins.”
Hawkins believes that Miami is the right fit for Cook because of coach Mike McDaniel and the offensive talent that the Dolphins have. “A very well-rounded attack that opens things up for Dalvin Cook,” said Hawkins.
McDaniel has a unique knack for turning good running backs into great ones. Browsing through some of the players he has managed over the years, there are several examples. But the player who stands out the most is the former Falcon, Matt Ryan. During his time in Atlanta, Ryan became an NFL MVP and NFL offensive player of the year in 2016. However, he did not have good RBs to begin with until Michael Turner joined, followed by Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Freeman was the NFL’s rushing touchdown leader in 2015.
Is the Miami Dolphins the right fit for Dalvin Cook?
Dalvin Cook already has multiple offers on the table. However, the Dolphins are the closest to landing the Miami native. If the recent report is to be believed, then Cook did receive one from the Dolphins but is holding out for a better deal.
Meanwhile, there’s another franchise that has shown great interest in Cook’s services. The New York Jets are looking to add to their already star-studded roster as they hope to push for the Super Bowl this year.
Whoever signs Cook knows they are getting their money’s worth. The four-time Pro Bowler, in his six-year stint as a professional footballer, has rushed for a total of 5,993 yards and 47 touchdowns. Moreover, his catching ability is one of the finest in the league, with 221 passes caught for 1,794 yards and five touchdowns.
The Dolphins would benefit greatly from Cook. Raheem Mostert stood out last year as he led the Miami backfield with 891 yards. Besides, Tua Tagovailoa is injury-free, and he and Cook can do wonders for Miami.
