On Sunday, the highly anticipated game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills had an ugly ending due to a controversial off-sides penalty on the Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney. Following the game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid sounded off on referees, but now, Reid has admitted Toney was at fault in that controversial play.

During Monday’s interview, Andy Reid admitted his wide receiver was lined an inch or two away from being legal. Furthermore, he also admitted that Toney failed to check with the referees about lining up in the neutral zone.

Listen, he was two inches away, an inch from being legal. You can argue both sides of it, for both teams, there are things that happen where it happens like that.

As previously mentioned, the veteran head coach admitted Toney didn’t check with the referees about his stance, contradicting many analysts’ reports about the incident.

Normally, he looks over to the sideline and just gets an OK. On that one, he just happened not to, so that would be the coaching point. Just make sure you check with the guy on the side just to see if you’re aligned. He’s not lining up offsides on purpose.

So, it seems like Reid has realized his player’s fault after spending a day on it. Because both Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes were furious at the refs for calling that penalty. Mahomes sounded off on refs and even went on an NSFW rant while shaking the hands of the Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Now, Mahomes has also said that he regrets his actions after the end of the game.

Andy Reid is not giving up on Kadarius Toney

The Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney has single-handedly cost two games for his team in the ongoing season. However, the veteran head coach Andy Reid is not ready to give up on the athletic pass catcher.

The thing I know is he makes plays. He makes plays when he has the ball in his hand and that's important. He's a young guy. He doesn't have ... a ton of experience, but I think he's getting better every week. I don't see that as being a negative.

It’s not like the Chiefs have plenty of options either. The Chiefs wide receivers room is already one of the worst in the league. If they give up on Toney, Mahomes will not have many weapons. So, it seems like Toney will stay with the Chiefs and will look to improve his game.
